DREAMers,Religious Leaders And Activist Demand Congressman Mark Amodei To Act On The DREAM Act After Several Meetings Ending Without Answer

RENO, NV – DACA recipients, Activist, Religious Leaders and other community members have been meeting with Congressman Mark Amodei for over a year. This Friday, DREAMers will meet with Congressman Amodei for a 3rd time since June. Each time the Congressman has said he will “consider” signing onto the DREAM Act. However, our communities can’t wait no longer for him to decide. Amodei must stand with DREAMers who should be welcomed here on Nevada Day—and he should reject the anti-immigrant racists whom he fears in Republican primaries. In Nevada there is 13,000 DACA recipients, program that has been terminated by President Trump, leaving them in danger of deportation.  The end of DACA will already cost Nevada more than $603.9 million in annual GDP losses, but the humanitarian reasons are stronger. DREAMers are not a party issue, in fact, an April 2017 survey of registered voters found that 78% of American voters support giving Dreamers the chance to stay permanently in America, including 73% of Trump voters.
