Joe Edson, Technology/Systems Director

Joe is a graduate of Georgetown University and is PLAN’s Field Organizer and backup lobbyist. Joe started as a PLAN intern while pursuing an MSW at the University of Nevada, Reno in 2001. Originally from Ohio, Joe now resides in Nevada’s most Republican county (Douglas) with his life-partner (now husband—thanks to Massachusetts) Dr. Mike Hardie, whom he met country western dancing in a lesbian bar in Reno.

Bob is one of PLAN’s founders. He’s a fifth generation Nevadan and can’t think of anywhere he’d rather live. When he’s not working, he’s likely to be found hiking or backpacking in one of the many mountain ranges in Nevada.

Jan has lived in Nevada since 1982 and is a cofounder of PLAN. She lives in Washoe Valley and enjoys gardening, cooking and the outdoors. A teacher by training, she lobbies the state legislature for PLAN.

Rosa Molina, PLAN Finance Director

Rosa was a school teacher in El Salvador for 13 years before coming to USA. She attended the National University of El Salvador and got her Master’s Degree in Education. She was the Latino for Political Empowerment Director in 1997 and moved to PLAN in April 1998. She started the Citizenship Program for PLAN in 2001. Besides teaching citizenship classes, she has taken special interest in educating Latino immigrants on the political processes of the United States via political education, GOTV (Get Out the Vote) campaigns, and teaching immi- grants the rights that they have here in the U.S.

Launce is a former ink-stained wretch, a veteran of two decades as a news reporter in Las Vegas, the Caribbean, and South America, among other locales. He loves desert springs, spicy food, informed arguments and getting PLAN’s name into the newspaper.

Mailynn Stormon-Trinh, NYAP intern


Mailynn is the intern for the Nevada Young Activist Project.  She graduated last May from Chapman University in Orange, CA and has returned to Reno where she was born and raised.  With a degree in theatre in one hand and a passion for activism in the other, she is currently trying to figure out the where's, why's, and what's about life.

Howard Watts III, Community Organizer

A Las Vegas native, Howard is a rising third year student at the University of Nevada Las Vegas majoring in Political Science. He previously served as a member of the Governor's Youth Advisory Council and the Las Vegas Youth Volunteers. He formerly worked as the Youth Program Coordinator for the Volunteer Center of Southern Nevada and serves currently as a board member for Forgotten Voice, a local street paper. He enjoys learning to cook, helping out others, and playing the occasional game of Dungeons and Dragons.

Cinthia Zermeno, Environmental Organizer

Cinthia is currently working on the 1Sky Nevada campaign, which is a campaign that will raise support and awareness for a strong federal climate change legislation initiative. She is currently attending UNLV majoring in Political Science. She was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico but calls Las Vegas her hometown ever since she can remember. She attended VoTech High school where she was involved in several clubs. Cinthia first got involved in politics while working on a presidential campaign. She organized several areas in North Las Vegas, where she educated Las Vegans on the caucus and ensuring that people participated on caucus day. On her time off she enjoys reading up on various political issues including feminist books and writing poetry, as well as pursuing other ways to get involved with the community.
